uSound is a smart hearing system. The app adds personalized filters to your ambient sound. The app has been tested in different situations in individuals with mild hearing loss.

Voor wie en waarom

The app was developed to support students with hearing impairment, but can also be useful for other students during, for example, lectures.

• Filters | Through the personalized filters, the app will customize everything you hear around you. For example, this way you can follow a lecture better, because disturbing sounds around you are muted.

Hoe werkt het

• Installation | You install the app on your smartphone and put earplugs in.
• Hearing test | On a limited number of devices, you can first take a hearing test after which the app automatically applies appropriate filters to the ambient sound.
• Applying filters yourself | If your device does not support the hearing test, you can apply filters independently.
• Operation | uSound adjusts the ambient sound via your phone's microphone. This should help you hear better. For example, you can make sure that the sound through the left earbud is louder than through the right earbud. You can set up a sound amplifier, as it were.
